Spreading the love, one sandwhich at a time!

Today, my college group at my church started up our homeless ministry again. Over the summer, myself and my good friends Katherine & Elyse, started up this homeless ministry with the heart to serve these people's physical needs, but most importantly, their spirtual needs. We would go to Costco and buy lots and lots of bread, PB&J, snacks, candy, and fruit. I think our highest number of lunch bags we gave out was 84! And that was only in a span of a few minutes. We always put a little bible verse in. Hopefully it's something they sneak away in their pocket and pull out during the week for an encouraging reminder of God's love and faithfulness. Today was such a great turn out. We have gotten our entire college group ministry involved, and had over 20 people come today (we usually only have 10 at the most). So that was definitely encouraging. And what's really awesome is we got to hand out hot coco! They just loved that. A nice hot drink on a semi-chilly day. But what is so awesome is looking around and seeing my friends praying with these people and just listening to them and taking the time to hear their story...

LOVE. It heals the soul. We are all called to love others as if they were ourselves (Mark 12:30-31). We are to carry each other's burdens (Galatians 6:2) and sacrifice our wants and our needs for the good of someone else. Love is powerful. Love died on the cross for you & for me.

Who will you love today?

In the words of St. Francis of Assisi, "“Preach the gospel at all times; when necessary, use words.”

Sincerely Yours,
Peace Love & All Things Creative
